To be perfectly honest, Dead or Alive Ultimate has never thrilled me too much. Its fun to watch ninja chicks in bikinis, I'll give you that, but all you do is unlock costume after costume. Were it not for Aerosmith, I might consider the game...less than avarage! Give me Mortal Kombat Deception any day.

Conclusion: Pong is/was nessesary but not sufficient for having awsome video games such as NGB.

Generally, when something is called "Ultimate," which means (by the way), "last," and has a bonus disc, one expects it to be a grab bag of fun, as opposed to a standard game. To use my above description a little further, I expect more from Mortal Kombat Deception than from the original Mortal Kombat, or Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance.

And yet the extras of Deception ruined the game. (If the assinine combat engine already hadn't.) Ultimate just meant the last DOA2/DOA1. That's why there is DOA2U and DOA1U.

And there is no bonus disc in them, it's a compilation of two separate fighting games. Also, DOAU is far from standard as its the 3D fighter that started online gaming for the genre.

DOAU takes the entire MK series, including the movies, stuffs it in a trash bag, beats it with a stick, throws it in a pit, sets it on fire then covers it in concrete. Total burial. Twisted Evil

I don't care which is better and which is not. I enjoy both franchises. Gameplay is what matters most IMO.

As a fighting game, Dead or Alive Ultimate was really good. It looked great, the characters and arenas were great. Even the combo system (although occasionally a wee annoying) was great. However, the extras did not satisfy. If it were supposed to a standard release, that would be different...
