think about it, so far all action games have been based on a frame system. that has very little to do with physics. so what if NG has a full physics engine? what I mean is that instead of having certain frames defined as a particualr thing. like invisible frames, recovery frames they could have the physics engine do the work. like each attack you do with Ryu takes away some amount of energy. which would be visible to the player. so x takes maybe 1 unit and y takes 2 or something. so there's no longer a need to remember odd frames instead the player will know whats going on intuitively. he'll see that he's using moves far too fast and needs to slowdown and recover some energy etc.
what do you think? also feel free to share your ideas Smile

That would just slow down the action and take away what makes the combat system great in the first place. I also don't see how a physics engine would have anything to do with whether or not Ryu gets tired and decides to "gather energy."

I dont think it'll slow down at all, because it's just a matter of balancing. and he wont gather energy. you'll just see a bar that shows how much energy each button press takes. if it goes over a line he'll go in to a small recovery animation.

No.
Physics engines are good in some games but not ninja gaiden.
This is a game where you need to know exactly what you're doing, and physics engines ruin that and make it pretty much just random.
Physics engines are good for random stuff happening so you can be like: "woah that was cool!" and then tell your mates like in halo with plasme grenades.
It is fun but it would ruin ninja gaiden.

I dont understand how physics can be random.lol.
for example with a physics engine you can have enemies falling to the ground when you kick them or slice their legs. that sort of thing can be really cool. also having momentum and force on weapons can look very immersive and powerful.

Enemies already fall to the ground when you cut their legs off.
I don't mean literally random but I mean that if I do a combo it may or may not work because of the physics engine.
Like it would do something different if I attacked from a different angle or something like that.
