|
|
I've never owned an Xbox, and I only got to play Ninja Gaiden for a while under my friend's "supervision". Now I still don't have a 360, but finally have my own copy of Sigma and soon, Dragon Sword. I'm a fan of action-adventure games, esp. hack & slash, and a big time fan of both the 2D Castlevania games and the Devil May Cry series. It's a pity that I won't be able to enjoy NGII like most of you around here (I'll need to rent it and the console every time I want to kick ass), but it looks to be a very good community here that I'm happy to be a part of.
Seeya around fellas. Some of you may already know me, heh |

OK, I'm bored, so here comes a rant.
"The newbie always gets me a cookie"
You saw this sentence, and you read is as "The newbie always gets a cookie". If I wanted to say that I would have said that. The verb 'to get' has 2 meanings; it can mean either 'to receive' or 'to fetch'. I meant the second meaning. How were you supposed to know that? The fact that I gave that sentence an indirect object: 'me'. When the verb 'to get' is used with an indirect object(HL: me) as well as a direct object(HL: cookie), it can only mean 'to fetch'.
So I never said the newbie gets a cookie, I said he has to get me one.
The thing is, the people who make grammatical mistakes have to get me one as well, so I'll have that cookie, my lad.
End of the rant.
(I hope I got all of the grammatical terms in English right.) _________________

English is a pretty easy language to be sufficiently familiar with to get your point across. And most people who have it as a native language are pretty accustomed to hearing non-native English speakers speaking their language to understand whet they're trying to say. So I can pretty much imagine most people don't know exactly how the English language works.
And I wasn't around when you came here, so you were in luck.
Of course, there's nothing stopping you from doing it now. _________________

Yeah, but "get" has so many meanings that we cannot always guess how it is used. When you said "fetch" instantaneously understood what you were saying.
However English is really easier than French for example.
No way, I'm not noob anymore :p _________________

Actually, French isn't that hard of a language either, in my opinion. It's hard to understand it when spoken. and the hardest part is speaking it yourself, because it's very fast, but from a grammatical point of view it's not that difficult.
But then again, I tend to think learning languages is a lot easier than most people do. _________________

Hiya!
*waves*
Oh, we usually figure out what you guys mean, and if we don't get it, we make that clear usually
Oh, the only thing I hate is native english users abusing the language. Speak "normally" not fragmented ghetto talk, thats just not necessary....show a little class people!
Sorry for that....<.<
French sounds funny, at least, over xboxlive it does.... _________________

I came to think it is really difficult because so many french people around me make so many mistakes, particulary when they write it. _________________
