I found this around DOAC but it's pretty interesting. Check it out:

Uh...I just skimmed it for now, but it talks mostly about the face work and towards the end about how the simple animations were used to optimize the performence, or something like that.

Thats all great and all, but it doesn't explain why the game can't handle the stress put on it.

The game can't handle itself because of it's poorly optimized engine... or at least that's what gametrailers' review said.

Well who else said anything about it? what else could it be? look at games like gears, assassin's creed, and similar games.

graphics = much more photo realistic

Lighting = much more dynamic

AI = gears AI is ok, but at least it can handle 10+ enemies without screen tears or slowdown. and AC's AI is dynamic and it has crowds of people.

ok... not NG

NG graphics = crappy pasted images, there are barely any textures, anywhere on the environment.

NG lighting = crap... just awful, things reflect from no light source, the only thing that is really dynamic is Ryu's weapons shine.

NG AI = bunch of cheap AI, everywhere. most of the AI is focused on projectiles and throwing.

what could it be other than these poorly optimized engines?

That's one of the biggest problems. I mean, why do they put like over 300 enemies in a stage when they know the engine can't support it?? (ng2 chapter 10 palace entrance)

I'm serious, why doesn't NGII look as good as the other next-gen games?
