http://www.metacafe.com/watch/250398/300_trailer/

As for me, Iam a sucker for good war movies so I will definitily be watching this the first day it comes out. Plus IMO Frank Miller did a nice comic to movie translation of Sincity being how I used to read those comics all the time when I was a kid. I think its worth seeing what kind of a war movie he is actually capable of putting together.

PS. sorry about the poor quality trailer, I just didn't know at the time where to find a good one. If you have a link for a better one please feel free to post it. Wink

I'll watch it but I already know this movie is going to be insanely over-rated... My predictions for the movie: Lots of action interrupted by some sub-par dialogue throughout the entire movie followed by more action.

Dunno about it, lots of blood and bodypiles (scratch that, bodymountains). Story seems good, but I doubt I will see it.

I just saw it last night and I thought it was great. Not too overhyped if you asked me,this movie was as good as they made it out to be. It will definitly satisfy your urge for more blood and gore as well. Don't want to spoil this great movie for you guys other then telling you its a great movie and is very worth seeing.

Well, since I red some history stuff about this, I know how it ends. Still it is goddamn spectacular how those soldiers managed to fend off an army almost 400x there size.

Thats an understatement, any child born with any defect was left to die in the wilderness...and those were the dejected ones....

Indeed. They had a mountain that were called that way. Dunno the exact name though.

They were dropped off a mountain cliff.

Boys were trained since the early age of 5 , and they were finished at 16 i think
then a bride was arranged for them.

Not dropped I think, just left to die and to fend for themselves. According to the Greeks, Spartans where descendants from Hercules/Heracles.

They began military training at the age of 7. Became full soldier at 21 and HAD to serve until at least 30. And then had to become reserve soldiers until over the age of 60. This was obviously a war-driven society.

Making them the most powerful and respected army in history.

One thing I remember reading somewhere (could be Wikipedia):

At some point, during the Olympic Games, an elderly man wanted to have a seat, but no-one would offer him one. When he reached the part with all the Spartans, they rose as one man and offered the old man their seats.

Correct, they had an area of the wilderness, a plain i believe, where they layed the babies down and left them, not dropped off a cliff, that'd be cruel Wink

Age seven for sure. I didn't know the heracles part *yeah for latin!*

Again, a war-centric society, good thing too otherwise the greek lands would have fallen to the Persians, and then we'd be speaking some other language, one that i didn't even knew existed...
