Microsoft reaffirms commitment to Halo movie

Film will go ahead despite studios' decision to pull out of deal

Microsoft has confirmed that plans to produce a film based on hit Xbox title Halo are still going ahead, despite the decision of Universal and Fox to pull out of the project.
The movie studios were due to fund and distribute the Halo film, on the understanding that Microsoft Game Studios and developer Bungie would have almost complete creative control over the project.
But last week Fox and Universal demanded that their deals be improved - and when executive producers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh refused, the studios pulled out.
Now Microsoft has released an official statement via the Bungie website which reads: "We are disappointed that Universal and Fox wanted to significantly renegotiate the financial points of the deal. But the Halo franchise is hugely popular and our goal remains the same - to find a partner that shares our passion and will creatively collaborate with us to best represent the story and spirit of the Halo franchise.
"Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and the rest of the creative team are dedicated to ensuring the Halo movie becomes a reality," the statement continues.
"We are already in discussions with potential partners who recognise the value of the Halo brand and its appeal to consumers worldwide."
Bungie has also reaffirmed its commitment to the Halo film, stating, "Frankly we’re interested in making the best movie, and it’s possible that a partner who’s more concerned with numbers might not be the best partner for what’s more vitally a creative process.
"Suffice it to say that Peter, Neill, Fran and Microsoft are as excited and dedicated as ever and WETA continues the pre-production process."
More news is due to be announced "in the next few weeks".

But AC is more of a sequel than an adaptation of the game, so...

The story was nonexistant. Laughing

The movie just released enough information for you to speculate what's going on. Speculations could end up being false. The action scenes were awesome though... the first time you see them. After you watch the movie a couple times it's just like "Yawn..." even when there's a battle going on. Hell, the Sephiroth and Cloud fight is seriously nothing special. I don't really like AC that much anymore. They should've just made the sequel to FF7 a game instead of a movie.

You know, there are rumors that Square-Enix is planning to make a similiar movie that describes the events after FFVIII. But I saw it on wikipedia so who knows Laughing

It would kinda rock though IMO.

Yea, IMO, I just don't think that'd be a good casting decision. It has nothing to do with race or whatever but rather it has to do with MC's personality in general. Denzel is a superb actor, so any movie he's in you know he's going to have a lot of lines. It just wouldn't seem right to hear MC all chatty and everything. MC is a man of few words. If Denzel did play the part and he did have limited lines it would turn out being even more bizarre because I can't picture him playing a silient role.
