Beginners like to abuse him. But once you really know what you're doing, you can destroy everybody online.
On another note: never fight Hayate at the Tatami stage. He has an infinite combo there if he gets behind you. _________________

They removed ->YB and the handstand stance. They added the ninpo stance and that's why he's so overused online. They also added the new Izuna Drop and a new wakeup attack.
YY*down*B is now YY*down*B*hold if you want*Y. The kick in that move has been replaced with the kick in his *forward**backward*B attack in U and 3.
YYYB is a new combo.
<- -> Y is a new flippy punch.
*downish forwardish direction twice* Y *down* B is new.
->BY and BB are his new knee attacks.
*downish forwardish direction*BB is new.
*downish backwardish direction* BY is the last two parts in the YY*down*BY combo.
-> -> B is new roll kick thingy.
He has various attacks that lead into a handstand that doesn't last long at all.
*backward uppish direction*YY can be preformed without a wall(another thing noobs like to abuse).
<-Y+B is how to get into the ninpo stance but there also other ways to get into the stance:
YY*down*B*hold*<-
YYYB*hold*<-
*downish back direction*B*hold*<-
*downish forwardish direction twice*Y*hold* <-
*uppish back direction* Y *hold* <-
->Y+B*hold*<-
->B*hold*<-
->YB*hold*<-
I think that covers most of it. _________________

That just made my head hurt....
and hell no, Ryu has never sucked. He's harder to use (effectively) than some of the other characters... but once you know what you're doing with him, he's pretty damn powerful.... this is coming from DOAU though, no clue about 4 _________________

He's a monster in 4. I wish he wasn't though so less people would use him. _________________

Tell that to the new players. All that they want to do is A and ->Y during the stance. _________________

So, punish them. Show them the errors of their ways. _________________

Oh I do. But nobody else does so they still do it.
I remember this one SS player. I won't disclose his gamertag because I'd rather not humiliate him. He's played over 600 matches and has only had around 60 losses. I come in this room thinking "oh, he must be pretty good". I watch and I see that he uses Ryu and now I'm thinking "oh, just another noob farmer. I can't wait to play against this idiot." I wait until my turn and completely destroy him. I'm only an A+ right now(It's now around 185,000 grade points to be an SS) so it's fun to get 1150 zack dollars every time I beat him. So far, I've only played 4 matches against him and have won 4 times. Just goes to show you that grade doesn't matter. _________________

Nice. Papickett already SS hunting.
So the ninpo is EASY to whore. In the demo, Ryu had to kind of prepare the teleport and that left him VERY vulnerable. A good Rush would've been all that's needed to avoid it. It sounds like Ryu's not vulnerable anymore. Kind of makes him sound unbalanced it this is true? _________________

If the enemy is at least half as far away from you as they can go, they won't be able to get to you before you can use a ninpo attack. _________________

It's funny. I've been labled "The Hayabusa user who doesn't use ninpo". I try to get by just using my DOA3 strategies. I use ninpo only when I have to. _________________

I know 6PK is no longer an effective strategy. Any other old Hayabusa strats semi effective in DOA4? _________________

6YB has been replaced with the last two hits in the YYYB combo. It's an ok move to use but it's not as useful and the 6YB in Ultimate and 3. 3YY is pretty useful because it's a 2-in-1 in most situations. I like to start most matches with 4YY. 7B is good for interrupting enemy combos. People say 33Y has good reach but I never use it. 7YY is useful against wakups(so is 1Y+B) but if I use it, I have to turn the volume down on my headset because of all of the noob comments. 1Y is a quick/useful low punch that avoids most high attacks. 236Y and 8B are his best launchers but 3X+B is also good on counter blow but is pretty risky since you can be crouch grabbed afterwards. 1B is a decent low attack that you can use to switch into the ninpo stance. 66B is abusable against new players. 6Y+B is a good stunner that can also launch on counter blow and allows you to switch to the ninpo stance. 66X+Y is one of his most useful throws because it interrupts most attacks. The Izuna Otoshi easily one of the best throws to use on high counter in the game(the plasma gernade is better off of slopes though). I can land alot of 10+Hit wall combos that take away more than half of an enemies' health. Here's how most of my wall combos go:
*opponent hits wall*
Light-weight:YYY*delay*Y*delay*8B*delay*YY4Y*delay*YY4YY
Medium:YYY*delay*Y*delay*8B*delay*YY4Y*delay*8BB
Heavy and Superheavy: YYY*delay*Y*delay*8B*delay*YYYB*hold*4
Medium and Heavier in area with ceiling: YYY*delay*Y*delay*3Y+BYY*360*A
It's safer to skip the YYY*delay*Y though since it's easily countered but you'll have to use the medium combo on lightweights.
Here's how the plasma gernade compares to the Izuna Drop:
Normal Throw:
-Izuna Drop=75 damage
-Plasma Gernade=70 damage
Hi Counter:
-ID=117 damage(you'd think that would be the plasma gernade's damage)
-PG=105 damage
Slope(let's use the Seaside market slope for an example):
-ID=95
-PG=132
Hi counter slope:
-ID=132
-PG=157
It's sad since the plasma gernade is only a 1 part throw.
If I skipped anything, I'll mention it later. _________________
