I personally like Ghost of Perdition the best, and Harlequin forest is second. The Grand Conjuration is ok but i dont see what all the hype is about.

There are more Opeth fans on this board. I just haven't been on here in a while. Very Happy While I enjoy the whole of Ghost Reveries (and it is an incredible album). It isn't their best album in my mind. I'm pretty partial to My Arms Your Hearse and Still Life. If I had to choose my absolute favorite Opeth song.... oooo.... that is tough. I love Demon of the Fall. That one comes in as a close second to Serenity Painted Death. To Bid Farewell off of the Morningrise album makes a strong case as well. Overall though, I guess I'll have to go with Serenity Painted Death. It has some of the best dynamics out of any of their songs. I really like some of the vocal/guitar harmonies as well. Thats my two cents.

Crappy band in my opinion. Well, the BAND is awesome... the vocals, well, let's just say the guy's voice sounds like he's choking on a lil' something something if you know what I mean.

Akerfeldt growls. It is as simple as that. His heavy growling vocals make him sound like he grew up in the tenth level of hell. In my opinion he has the best heavy vocals out of any of the death/doom/black/other metal bands out there. His clean vocals are a total reversal. He sounds like a member of a church choir when he does clean vocals. If you're not familiar with them, then go to amazon or someplace and listen to some samples off of the different albums. Damnation is a completely mellow album. It has only clean vocals on it. All the others are a mix of clean and heavy.

Well, I'm not into that "10th level of hell" kind of singing. I don't like it, very annoying to my ears. I don't like "choir" voice singing either so to be honest I'd really be wasting my time if I went to go check out some samples. Although, I've never actually heard him in his "choir" voice, from what I've heard from his other voice I still don't think he'd impress me with his clean vocals. I suppose listening to a quick sample can't hurt though.
